FATMUG FAQ's
Are you just a bunch of guys who like to hang out and ride trails?
Heck yeah! No, wait… I mean, No! We do, in fact, like to hang out
and ride trails but we’ve got much higher aspirations that just that.
Read our mission statement and goals to get a better idea of why we
formed FATMUG. Essentially, the purpose of FATMUG is to coordinate the
entire efforts of the trail using community. If we can accomplish that,
then hanging out and riding (or hiking, running, etc) the trails can be
assured to be a blast for all of us for a long, long time.
Can anyone be a member?
Sure, we’d love to have you no matter what your reason for joining.
The more people we can get involved the faster the “work” will go so we
can all spend more time enjoying the trails. Check out our membership
page for more information.
When are you having a meeting?
Meetings will be scheduled as far in advance as possible and posted
on the website. The board meetings are usually just to discuss
administrative matters. Members who wish to attend a board meeting are
encouraged to contact the FATMUG board prior to the meeting so that a
location capable of accommodating everyone may be chosen. Steve’s
basement only fits so many folks and Andy’s cat will attack you if you
end up sitting on his floor.
Do you have any meetings other than board
meetings?
We do plan to hold meetings for all members occasionally and we will
do our best to notify everyone as early as we can so that you can get
the date on your calendars. General membership meetings will be held
somewhere “social” so that conducting business is as enjoyable as
possible.
Where are all the good trails around here?
FATMUG’s current focus is on the Quarry Trails. We love them, think
they are the best and want to keep them as sweet as possible for as long
as we can. That’s why we exist. See the directions link to find your
way there. And if it’s your first time at the Quarry Trails then send
us an e-mail and we can try to meet you to show you around. There are
other riding locations such as Lodi Farms and Burke Farms within easy
reach of town. See our links page for more information.
When are you going to hold trail maintenance events?
Check the calendar. They will vary in
schedule based on time of year and need.
Who owns the Quarry Trails?
The property is a combination of city and
private property. Most of the private property is held in a
conservation easement with Virginia Outdoor Foundation and the City of
Fredericksburg.
