4 Volunteers 5 Hours of Dedication, 50 ft. of Trail

FATMUG appreciates everyone’s efforts in keeping the trails open and fun.  If you would like to help us repair or improve a section of the trail that you think is problematic or if you know of a recent blockage such as a downed tree, then please contact us and we will try our best to work with you, or for you, to get the job done.

If the problem you’ve noticed is minor such as a low hanging tree branch, fresh twig growth into the trail corridor or deadfall limbs and branches less than 3-inches in diameter then feel free to take the on-the-spot maintenance approach.  However, anything more involved then that should be discussed with us before you take action.

Trail obstacles and technical sections are there to challenge us and enhance our experience.  Fallen trees and logs that may seem like a nuisance to you may be what another trail user loves about that section.  What you find moderately annoying may be what someone else thinks about all day at work, just waiting to get out on the trail...  Please don’t remove these trail features.

Do not create trails around obstacles unless you don’t have a choice.  There’s nothing wrong with walking around a newly downed tree in the middle of the trail but avoid widening the trail around permanent obstacles. Route-arounds at every obstacle result in greater impact to the natural surroundings by crushing foliage and increasing erosion.  If you cannot ride over an obstacle, then walk it until your skills develop.  If you cannot walk over an obstacle, then let us know and we’ll work together so we can all use the trails happily.

Please check our calendar for meetings and maintenance days.  These are the best times to make your voice heard on your opinions of the trails.

Thanks for you help and have fun out there!
